In short
Framer is better for designers who want to lay out and animate a marketing site on a canvas and have it hosted for them. Devdwell is better for people who look after several sites built in different ways, want to make changes by describing them, want their sites as ordinary files, and want to share one site at a time with a client.

Where Framer is better
- Design and motion. A canvas that feels like a design tool, with animation and interactions built in. Devdwell has no design canvas.
- Templates and components. A large library to start from.
- Hosted for you. Design and hosting in one place, with a built-in CMS for things like blog posts.
Where Devdwell is better
- Many sites, any origin. A dashboard of every site you look after, not only ones made in one builder.
- Plain-words changes. Describe the change or click what you mean, and see it beside a live preview.
- Files you own. Sites are ordinary files on your computers, and they stay online where they’re published if you stop using Devdwell.
- One site at a time. Share a single site with a client, with “Can edit” or “Can edit and publish”.
- Your phone. Ask for a change from your phone; your computer makes it.
Can you use both?
Yes. A designer might build a launch site in Framer and keep their client sites, prototypes and coded sites in Devdwell. Framer sites are hosted by Framer; see Framer’s documentation for any export options.
Questions
Is Devdwell a Framer alternative?
Only partly. Devdwell is for keeping, changing and publishing many sites. If you want a design canvas with animation tools, Framer is the better fit.
Can I import a Framer site into Devdwell?
Only if you have the site as files. Devdwell imports folders and downloaded files.
